A FINAL decision on whether or not to go ahead with the London to Birmingham HS2 high speed rail link has been delayed until January.

It is believed Transport Secretary Justine Greening wants more time to consider the mooted £500m tunnel for a section of the route through Ruislip.

She said: "To ensure my decision is based on a careful consideration of all relevant factors, I have concluded that I should allow myself until early in 2012 to announce my decisions.”

Ruislip Against HS2 raised more than £800 for the Stop HS2 campaign at a fund-raising event at Ruislip Rugby Club, and the money will be used to increase campaign efforts before the decision is announced .

The Stop HS2 campaign is also competing against X-Factor winners Little Mix - featuring Harlington's own Leigh-Anne Pinnock – for the Christmas No.1 single spot.

Stop HS2 teamed up with Buckinghamshire band Dirty Mavis to produce and promote The Oak Tree Lament (Did you Stop the HS2?), to raise money for and awareness of the campaign.

The folk-inspired protest song will only be available to download, and supporters can order the track now on their mobile phones.
