Council vows to fight third runway

LEADER of Hillingdon Council, Ray Puddifoot, has said the council will continue to fight the third runway.

In a statement he said: "This proposed expansion will lead to the destruction of homes, detrimental air quality, increased traffic congestion and noise pollution. The impacts on communities across London and in Hillingdon will be immense.

“How the Government can ignore the overwhelming opposition to these plans is staggering. This clearly shows that Gordon Brown is putting the interests of business over those of the people and the environment."

He added: "This is not the end of our fight and we will continue to oppose the plans on a number of fronts including possible legal action.”

Lets just hope that any petitioners will be allowed ot have their say at any planning meetings, unless of course the Government decide that this type of project requires special measures. If that is the case, then how on earth can we call this country a democracy.

I live in Uxbridge and am in favour of expansion as are many others in the borough.
If the local council decides to take legal action I do not want monies I have paid as council tax to be used in destroying Hillingdon / Uxbridge and West London

If feer that the council is not acting in our best interests
