  • "I would like to thank John McDonnell for all the hard work he does for his constituency.
His action's yesterday in Parliament were unbelievably brave and showed immense courage of which Hayes and Harlington people should be proud of.
May I also thank him for all the hard work he does for Cherry Lane Cemetery.

MP feels 'betrayed by his government'

JOHN Randall, MP for Uxbridge has spoken out over todays events in the House of Commons.

He was speaking after Labour MP for Hayes, John McDonnell, was removed from the House of Commons during a statement on Heathrow by transport secretary Geoff Hoon.

Mr McDonnell left his seat and grabbed the mace, putting it down on an empty bench and shouting: "It's a disgrace to the democracy of this country."

Mr Randall told the Hillingdon Times: "I can fully understand why he resorted to such desperate action, because of the frustration over the way the secretary of state was taking questions."

He added: "John McDonnell feels utterly betrayed by his Government."
