Middlesex CCC batsman Ed Joyce will leave the club at the end of the season to join Sussex.

The 30-year-old Irishman attracted interest from six counties but opted to head south.

Joyce will stay with Middlesex for next month's Champions League before completing his move. He made his debut for the club in 1999.

Middlesex chief executive Vinny Codrington said: "He needs a new challenge. He has been absolutely spot on in all of the negotiations and communication with us.

"He was always one of the first names on the team sheet and he has been outstanding and undoubtedly we're going to miss him."
