ADULTS and children in the borough are being urged by Hillingdon Council to enter its annual fruit and vegetable competition.
The autumn show celebrates locally-grown produce and will be held on Saturday, September 15, at the Great Barn, Ruislip.
Categories include heaviest pumpkin, matching marrows, jars of jam and chutney, arranged vegetable baskets, herb pots and autumnal decorated cupcakes.
Brian Lawrence, 81 from Hayes End, who won three categories last year, said: "I have an allotment at Wood End Green and grow almost everything from cabbage, potatoes and beans, to sweetcorn, tomatoes and marrows. I’ve entered the show three years in a row.”

The competition is open to all ages and abilities and the council is particularly keen to encourage youngsters to get involved, with a dedicated section for those under 16.
There will also be an art competition for adults and children, with prizes and certificates awarded to first to third place winners.
The deadline for entries is Friday, September 7, at 5pm. For more information, please visit: www.hillingdon.gov.uk/autumnshow
